Last week I read a series of responses (from Linked In members) to the question… “What role does intuition play in your decision-making?” Are you a believer or a skeptic? Do you regularly check-in with your “intuitive winds”, to note the direction they are blowing?
Here is another way to think about this esoteric weather vane; If life were a chess board, would Intuition play the role of ‘Queen‘ , helping you to deftly navigate the game of life? Or…would Intuition be your ‘Pawn‘, stifling and restricting your progress and jamming your inner GPS ?
Regardless of how you view the role of intuition in your life, most would agree that intuition is an innate sense of “knowing” that we can all tap into whenever we want to….and, that this crazy thing called “intuition” generates certain, physiological “cues” that distinguishes it from those other great, but entirely non-evocative “in” words: in-tellect, in-formation and in-telligence.
I believe that intuition is truly something special; a fifth chakra of sorts, that sends signals you can feel deeply in your gut. Sometimes, this sweet ‘6th sense’ shows up as a knot in your stomach, or sweaty palms, or a rapid heart beat. There is no doubt, intuition always announces herself in a very physical manner…you just need to be sensitive to her signs, so that you recognize her when she shows up! Of course, there are times when intuition makes herself known in the most breathtaking way possible, to get your attention and make sure you don’t miss her message.
The really cool thing about intuition is that she collaborates with the Law of Attraction to validate your sense of what’s right or wrong, in your life. If a circumstance feels right, your intuition sends very powerful “feel good” messages and you know intuitively (no pun intended), to move toward that opportunity in your life. If a situation feels wrong, your intuition similarly sends strong “feel bad” messages and you know to recede, back away…from the situation at hand. The truth is, listening to your intuition is all about learning to take your own counsel. Those that go with their intuition as a basis for decision-making, have learned to trust their own life experience and the wisdom they have garnered from those experiences. They are individuals that look inwardly, to their own “Solomon” for direction and guidance. Of course, some would argue that we are all sages of our own lives, but few of us are in tune with—or respectful enough— of our own view of things, to act upon those viewpoints.
Using our intuition in life means that we can hear our own inner counsel’s advice and warnings…and then take heed! Intuition-based decisions can be the very best decisions; because they are based on our own higher consciousness.
As the loved, television character “Kojak” might say: “Who loves you baby, more than your OWN inner voice?” You really can’t beat listening to your own inner guide. But, the larger question is: Are you really hearing your own intuition speak, or are you simply responding to messages (from friends and family) that have been drilled into your brain, over time, to the point that they have taken on a tone of your own?
When you listen to your “gut”…make sure its your own beautiful, intuitive, self talking to you…and not the collective consciousness of hundreds of others that have influenced your life along the way!”
